Nostalgia for the Present
Photography is great for keeping memories. It gives us a physical (or digital) object to attach them to. Nostalgia is nothing new to photography, and neither is anything that I’m doing, really. But I do want to emphasize a love for life as it is right now, and I hope that by sharing my perspective on the things around me, that I may help you develop a deeper appreciation for this life. I love adventure, and I am looking forward to being able to afford to travel a lot someday. My collection has a lot of photos from my adventures with my dad, from when we went on a road trip across the country. Nevertheless, my collection of photos also consists of things that I experience on a day-to-day basis. As it has been said before, there’s beauty all around us. While I think that photography is great for cultivating a nostalgia for the good experiences of our past, it is also my belief that it can instill in us a gratitude for our day-to-day experiences: a nostalgia for the present.
Sharing a spirit of wonder for the small, inconsequential things of this world.
Cultivating a joy for life: adventures and the day-to-day.
